Police Commissioner Arrested for Bribery in Aït Melloul

The Regional Brigade of the Judicial Police in Marrakech launched a criminal investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor on Friday, February 21, to determine the criminal actions attributed to a police commissioner working in the regional police station of Aït Melloul. He is suspected of involvement in a case of extortion and bribery.

Security services responded seriously to a complaint alleging that the officer had demanded a sum of money from a party involved in a judicial case in exchange for neglecting an official duty.

The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect in the act of receiving a bribe. He has been placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent prosecutor to uncover all circumstances of the case.

On an administrative level, the General Directorate of National Security will wait for the conclusion of the judicial process before imposing the disciplinary sanctions stipulated by police regulations.
