Two Wanted French Nationals Arrested in Marrakech

The Marrakech Judicial Police, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested two French nationals, aged 28 and 38, on Sunday evening. The suspects were the subject of international arrest warrants issued by French authorities and red notices from Interpol.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), investigations led to the identification of the suspects’ hideout before a reinforced security operation resulted in their arrest in Marrakech.
This operation was carried out as part of the ongoing collaboration between Moroccan and French security services. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were involved in a murder committed on May 14, 2024, as part of a criminal network targeting prison officials in France. This attack facilitated the escape of Franco-Algerian inmate Mohamed Amara, who was arrested last week in Romania.
Additionally, the two individuals are suspected of other criminal activities, including illegal possession of firearms, aggravated theft, fraud, attempted murder, and vandalism of public and private property.
The suspects have been placed in police custody under judicial investigation, supervised by the competent public prosecutor. French authorities have been notified to initiate extradition procedures under international cooperation agreements.
This high-profile security operation highlights Morocco’s commitment to strengthening international security cooperation and demonstrates the strong partnership between Moroccan and French law enforcement agencies in combating organized crime.
