Flick: We must fix our defensive mistakes if we want to reach the final

The first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final between FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid ended in a breathtaking 4-4 draw at « Lluís Companys » stadium, in a match full of dramatic twists and turns.

Despite an early two-goal lead from the visitors, Barcelona mounted a spectacular comeback by scoring four goals. However, Atlético managed to level the score in the final minutes, leaving the decisive outcome for the second leg at the « Metropolitano » on March 16.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed his disappointment with the result. Speaking to Marca, he said:
« I warned my players about Atlético’s threat, but we made costly mistakes. We created many chances, yet we allowed them to come back in the final minutes, and that’s something we need to fix. »

He added:
« We had opportunities to seal the victory, but now we must focus on correcting our defensive errors. Our team is young and has great potential for growth. We will use this experience to prepare for the second leg. »

With this thrilling draw, the battle for a place in the final remains wide open, and everything will be decided in Madrid.
