The President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fawzi Lekjaâ, traveled to Mauritania to attend the inauguration ceremony of the FIFA Talent Academy. This event was attended by several presidents of African football federations.

Upon his arrival, Lekjaâ was welcomed by the President of the Mauritanian Football Federation, Ahmed Ould Yahya. According to an official statement from the Mauritanian Football Federation, this meeting took place on the sidelines of the sports event marking the launch of the FIFA Talent Academy in Mauritania. The visit also coincided with the official start of the expansion works at the Cheikh Ould Bidiya Stadium.

Lekjaâ’s presence in Mauritania was also an opportunity to meet with several presidents of continental football federations, including Egypt’s Hani Abou Rida, Tunisia’s Moez Ben Sassi, and Benin’s Mathurin De Chackos. The discussions focused on various issues related to African football and its development, particularly as the continent prepares to host the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly held by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. Furthermore, Morocco will host several global events for different age groups (men and women) over the next five years.

The President of the Mauritanian Football Federation, Ahmed Ould Yahya, expressed his gratitude to Fawzi Lekjaâ for his support in advancing African football in general and Mauritanian football in particular, especially as Morocco has become a preferred destination for many teams that lack suitable stadiums to host continental matches, whether for AFCON or World Cup qualifiers.
