A New Air Bridge Between Morocco and the United States

In a major step to enhance air connectivity between Morocco and the United States, the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has signed an agreement with Delta Air Lines. This partnership will establish the first direct flight between Atlanta and Marrakech, launching in October 2025.
This new route strengthens Morocco’s position on the global tourism map. It is the second direct flight between Morocco and the U.S. in just two years, following the New York – Marrakech route. This milestone reflects the ONMT’s strategic vision to make Morocco a key destination for American travelers.
Atlanta’s airport, the world’s largest air hub, connects to over 125 U.S. cities, making this new route a major asset for attracting more visitors. Delta Air Lines, the oldest active U.S. airline, is recognized globally for its excellence in air travel.
This collaboration between ONMT and Delta Air Lines is expected to bring a surge in U.S. travelers, boosting Moroccan tourism and strengthening ties between the two nations. It also marks Delta’s first-ever direct flight to Morocco and North Africa.
This achievement is the result of intensive marketing campaigns led by the ONMT’s New York office, striving to enhance Morocco’s appeal in the American market. With this new connection, Marrakech will now be linked to three major North American hubs:
- Montreal via Air Transat,
- New York via United Airlines,
- Atlanta via Delta Air Lines.
This new route complements existing direct flights operated by Royal Air Maroc, connecting Casablanca with New York, Washington, and Miami. Strengthening these air links reinforces Morocco’s position as an attractive destination for American travelers, a market with 125 million annual passengers.
In 2024, 402,377 American tourists visited Morocco, a 7% increase from 2023. In January 2025 alone, 26,777 Americans arrived, marking a 31% rise compared to the previous year. The long-term goal is to welcome one million American visitors annually.
The new Atlanta – Marrakech route, operating three times weekly on a Boeing 767-400 with 238 seats, represents a key step forward in Morocco’s tourism strategy. Under the ONMT’s « Morocco, Kingdom of Light » campaign, this initiative aims to position Morocco among the world’s top tourist destinations.
