As part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and enhance security in the region, customs authorities in Al Hoceima carried out the destruction of a large quantity of recently seized narcotics on Thursday, February 27. A total of 8,773.6 kilograms of cannabis resin was incinerated, along with other confiscated substances from previous security operations.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance in Al Hoceima, with the participation of several key entities, including local authorities, civil protection, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Royal Navy, and regional security services.

The destroyed substances included 4,459.4 kilograms of kif, 16 kilograms of tobacco (taba), and 2 grams of cocaine powder. The incineration took place in Douar Agbal, within the rural commune of Rouadi.

This initiative is part of a comprehensive security strategy aimed at combating drug trafficking and distribution in the region, as these substances pose significant risks to public health and safety. In this context, on February 11, 2025, the Royal Navy and the Royal Gendarmerie successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle 7.5 tons of cannabis resin off the coast of Al Hoceima.
