Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Fatima-Zahra Ammor, announced on Tuesday a plan to create 150,000 jobs in the tourism sector by 2030.

According to Ammor, the country’s tourism strategy aims to generate over 40,000 direct jobs by 2026 and 150,000 by 2030.

She emphasized that the exceptional momentum of the tourism sector has had a very positive impact on employment in Morocco.

In 2023 alone, 25,000 new jobs were created in the industry, a significant figure just a year after recovering from COVID-19.

Currently, the tourism sector provides 827,000 direct jobs in the country.

Additionally, the minister highlighted that tourism was Morocco’s second-largest source of foreign currency in 2024, after remittances from Moroccans living abroad.
