The Judicial Police of the regional security department in Témara, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), successfully thwarted a drug trafficking attempt on Tuesday evening, seizing 4 tons and 321 kilograms of hashish. Five individuals, aged between 24 and 50, suspected of being part of an international drug trafficking network, were arrested.

According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Royal Gendarmerie in Skhirat. The search of two utility vehicles led to the discovery of 109 bundles of hashish, totaling 4 tons and 321 kilograms.

Further investigations led to the arrest of the five suspects, who were found in possession of four vehicles used to facilitate their criminal activities, as well as a sum of 4 million dirhams, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

The arrested individuals have been placed in custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, as investigations continue to determine other potential links to this criminal network.

This security operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the DGSN and DGST to combat international drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.
