Moroccan-French Military Cooperation: « Cherki 2025 » Exercises

As part of the ongoing military cooperation between Morocco and France, representatives from both countries’ armed forces have held extensive meetings to coordinate preparations for the « Cherki 2025 » exercises, scheduled for September 22.
These exercises aim to enhance defense capabilities and counter terrorist threats in the Sahel region. At the same time, Paris is working on a project to establish an airbase in the far south of the Moroccan desert to support military operations against extremist groups.
According to French media sources, the exercises will take place in the « Rahmat Allah » and « Ardou » regions of the Errachidia province. The maneuvers will involve ground and air units to strengthen operational coordination and facilitate experience exchange between both armies.
The exercises will be divided into two main phases:
- CPX Phase (Command Post Exercise – Simulation and Operational Planning): Training sessions will be conducted in command centers to simulate field scenarios, develop planning skills, and enhance joint decision-making.
- LIVEX Phase (Live Field Exercises): Practical drills will involve ground and air units in a realistic environment to test combat readiness and improve coordination between forces.
These exercises highlight the strong military partnership between Rabat and Paris, aiming to reinforce the defense capabilities of both nations and unify efforts to address regional and international security challenges, particularly in coastal and desert areas, as well as in counterterrorism operations against organizations threatening regional stability.
