The Algerian military regime has decided to close its consulates in France in protest against the deportation of « terrorists » and « criminals » of Algerian origin residing in several French cities. This move comes in response to the French authorities’ decision to expel them from their territory.

As a result, Algeria has shut down its consulate in Nice, located in the Alpes-Maritimes region, as well as those in Marseille and Montpellier.

This decision has disrupted services for Algerian citizens held in administrative detention centers, particularly in issuing travel permits.

There are reportedly hundreds of Algerian criminals with serious records living in France who now face the risk of deportation to their home country, amid rising diplomatic tensions between the two nations.

Additionally, French authorities have announced the creation of a list containing « hundreds » of Algerians with « dangerous profiles » whom they intend to send back to Algeria, a decision that the Algerian military regime strongly opposes.
