A report by the specialized website Railway Supply states that the undersea tunnel project connecting Morocco and Spain could be a game-changer in modern engineering.
Recently, studies have been launched to assess the feasibility of this massive project, which faces geological and environmental challenges.
According to Railway Supply, the tunnel will accommodate high-speed trains, reducing travel time between the two countries to less than 30 minutes.
In November last year, the Spanish government approved the installation of four seismic sensors worth over €480,000 to study the seabed of the Strait of Gibraltar.
This renewed effort aims to overcome the geological and environmental barriers of the strait after previous unsuccessful attempts. The project involves the construction of three tunnels spanning 42 kilometers, with 27.7 kilometers underwater.
Once completed, the tunnel is expected to significantly boost trade between Europe and Africa.
