Expropriation of Agricultural Lands in Essaouira for High-Speed Rail Expansion

The Moroccan government has decided to expropriate several agricultural land plots in the Essaouira province as part of the high-speed rail expansion project connecting Kenitra to Marrakech.
According to Decree No. 7385, published in the Official Gazette and signed by Ahmed Bouari on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, this measure aims to establish underground distribution channels to strengthen the irrigation network of the Souk perimeter, which is supplied by the Moulay Abderrahmane Dam in Essaouira.
Decree No. 2.24.959 provides for the expropriation of approximately 200 land plots in the communes of Akrass and Ounagha to ensure the project’s implementation according to the planned framework.
