The Spanish Civil Guard announced on Thursday the arrest of a suspect in Córdoba, southern Spain, on suspicion of belonging to the terrorist organization ISIS. The operation was carried out in collaboration with Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

In a statement, the Civil Guard highlighted that « thanks to the close cooperation between the Civil Guard and the DGST in counterterrorism efforts, security forces were able to identify and detain this individual, whose intense activity on social media contributed to ISIS’s propaganda strategy. »

The suspect, arrested under the order of an investigating judge, was considered a potential threat to public security due to his continuous dissemination of particularly violent jihadist content.

This operation is part of the ongoing collaboration between Spain and Morocco in combating terrorism and extremism, as well as the two countries’ joint efforts to enhance regional and international security.
