The Amount of Zakat Al-Fitr for 1446H/2025 Set at 23 Dirhams

The Supreme Scientific Council has announced that the amount of Zakat Al-Fitr in cash for the year 1446H/2025 has been set at 23 dirhams.
In its statement regarding Zakat Al-Fitr and its value in kind and cash, the Council emphasized that the original rule is to give it in the form of food, based on the staple food of the country. The required amount is a Prophetic « sa’ » per person, which equals four « mudd » according to the measure of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), approximately 2.5 kg of grains or flour. It is recommended to be given after the Fajr prayer and before heading to the Eid prayer, but it can also be paid two to three days before Eid and can be given in monetary form.
The Council confirmed that this year, the amount has been set at 23 dirhams, while also stating that those who wish to volunteer and give more are free to do so, following Allah’s words: « And whoever volunteers good, then indeed, Allah is Appreciative and Knowing ».
Finally, the Council reminded that Zakat Al-Fitr is a mandatory charity prescribed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to purify the fasting person from idle and inappropriate speech and to provide for the needy. It is an act of devotion and closeness to Allah, carried out at the end of Ramadan to seek His rewards and blessings.
