Over 517 kg of Unsafe Food Seized and Destroyed in Tétouan

Regional and local monitoring committees in the province of Tétouan have seized and destroyed 517.15 kg of unsafe food products as of the 20th day of Ramadan.

According to data from the Department of Economic Affairs and Coordination, mixed regional committees responsible for price and quality control inspected 239 establishments between the 1st and 20th of Ramadan. These inspections resulted in the closure of three businesses, 14 warnings, and the seizure and destruction of unsafe food products.

Additionally, 17 food samples were collected by representatives of the Health and Social Protection Department for laboratory analysis.

The Economic Affairs Department has also activated the national number 5757 to receive and address complaints regarding market supply and food safety. So far, 43 complaints have been received, leading to several interventions.

The inspections covered wholesale and retail markets, bakeries, pastry shops, and businesses in both urban and rural areas. The focus was on storage conditions, hygiene standards, and the validity of food products used.
