
Twenty-two people lost their lives, and 2,490 others were injured, including 109 seriously, in 1,815 road accidents recorded in urban areas between March 17 and 23.
According to the General Directorate of National Security, the main causes of these accidents include driver inattention, failure to yield the right of way, lack of safe distance, speeding, pedestrian inattention, failure to stop at signs, loss of control, illegal turns, and driving in the wrong direction.
Traffic control operations resulted in 42,492 violations, 7,990 reports submitted to the judiciary, and 34,502 on-the-spot fines, totaling 7.37 million dirhams. Additionally, 5,167 vehicles were impounded, 7,990 documents were confiscated, and 780 vehicles were immobilized.
