Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, stated on Tuesday in Madrid that Morocco and Spain have established « the best climate of cooperation in their history » over the past three years.
Speaking before the Senate, Albares recalled that the joint declaration adopted in April 2022, following discussions between King Mohammed VI and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, laid the foundation for an unprecedented collaboration.
Trade exchanges between the two countries have reached a historic level of nearly 25 billion euros, highlighting the strength and complementarity of their economic relations. Over 15,000 Spanish companies regularly export to Morocco, and 660 others are established in the country, reflecting Morocco’s economic attractiveness.
Regarding the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, Albares emphasized that this global event represents a historic opportunity to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and strategic partnership between Rabat and Madrid.
Finally, he praised Morocco’s effective cooperation in migration management, affirming that « irregular migration cannot be managed without the support and commitment of Morocco. »
