Exceptional Food Parcel Distribution for Prisoners During Eid al-Fitr

The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration has announced that, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, inmates in penitentiary institutions will be allowed to receive a food parcel starting from the second day of the holiday, for a single time over a one-week period.
According to a statement from the Delegation, this exemption reinforces the policy of allowing food parcels during religious holidays, as an exception to the general ban. The initiative aims to positively impact inmates’ morale and strengthen their family ties. Thus, as an exceptional measure, prisoners will be permitted to receive a food parcel from their authorized visitors, including diplomatic and consular representatives for foreign detainees, according to the schedule set by prison administrations.
Prison facilities will take all necessary measures to facilitate communication between inmates and their families regarding the required conditions for delivering the food parcels.
Finally, the Delegation urges the families of detainees to participate responsibly in this initiative and avoid any attempt to introduce items that could compromise the security of the penitentiary institutions.
