A Controversial Verdict in the Toxic « Mahia » Case

The ruling against the defendants in the adulterated « mahia » case in Sidi Allal Tazi has sparked outrage among consumer protection activists. They argue that the total 46-year prison sentence does not reflect the severity of the crime, which claimed several lives in June 2024. They are calling for harsher penalties to deter future offenders.
On Monday, the criminal chamber of the Kenitra Court of Appeal sentenced the main accused, J.B., to 12 years in prison, while A.H. and Y.S. received 10 and 8 years, respectively. Other co-defendants were sentenced to terms ranging from 6 years to 1 year, along with a fine of 500 dirhams.
