On the evening of Monday, April 21, Moroccan National Security officers at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a 47-year-old Tunisian national who was internationally wanted by French judicial authorities.
The suspect was apprehended upon arrival from Tunisia. A background check through Interpol’s database revealed he was the subject of a Red Notice issued in 2021 by the Central Bureau in Paris, for the execution of a criminal sentence.
Initial investigations show the man had escaped custody while serving a 30-year prison sentence for armed theft within an organized criminal group, as well as drug possession and a homicide committed in the Netherlands using a firearm.
The suspect was placed in police custody, pending referral to the competent public prosecutor, while Interpol Rabat, under the General Directorate of National Security, has notified its counterpart in France to initiate extradition proceedings.
This arrest underscores Morocco’s strong commitment to international security cooperation and combating transnational organized crime.
