When Healthcare Has No Borders: A Model of Moroccan-Ivorian Medical Solidarity

In an urgent medical and humanitarian response, the Hassan II Regional Hospital in Dakhla received, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, an Ivorian woman residing irregularly in Morocco, suffering from severe pregnancy-related complications.
Upon her arrival at the maternity ward, a multidisciplinary medical team took immediate charge of her case. After thorough examinations, it was determined that her condition required emergency transfer to the specialized maternal intensive care unit at Mohammed VI University Hospital in Marrakech due to the critical nature of her health.
Thanks to coordinated efforts between the Regional Health Directorate of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and emergency medical services, all necessary resources were mobilized to ensure a safe transfer. A specially equipped medical aircraft operated by Air Ocean Maroc was deployed for the air evacuation, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
Air Ocean Maroc, a leading provider of medical air transport services, played a key role in saving both the mother and her unborn child. The company’s swift intervention—made possible by its advanced fleet and highly trained crew—highlighted the effectiveness of public-private collaboration.
This operation stands as a powerful example of synergy between the public and private sectors and underscores Air Ocean Maroc’s commitment to supporting the national healthcare system, particularly in times of urgent medical and humanitarian need.
