Laâyoune: Police Dismantle Diploma Forgery Network

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the judicial police in Laâyoune arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the forgery and illegal use of academic diplomas.

Authorities launched a criminal investigation after detecting social media ads offering fake diplomas and certificates for sale. The inquiry led to the identification of two suspects, with one of them already in custody while efforts continue to apprehend the second.

During the search operation, police seized 69 fake diplomas, 28 forged equivalency certificates for vocational training, 47 diploma application forms, and 8 counterfeit institutional seals.

They also confiscated a desktop computer, a digital storage device suspected of containing digital traces of the illegal activity, a bank card, and 16 receipts for money transfers believed to be linked to the scheme.

The suspect is currently under judicial custody, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of the network.
