Polisario Fighters Involved in Syrian War under Iranian Command

The French magazine Jeune Afrique, citing leaked intelligence documents, revealed that members of the Polisario Front fought alongside the Syrian regime during the civil war, as part of a regional network orchestrated by Iran, with the involvement of Hezbollah and logistical and political support from Algeria.

These findings are supported by investigations from The Washington Post, highlighting the Polisario’s covert military activities, far from its official rhetoric centered on « self-determination » in Moroccan Sahara.

According to European sources quoted, hundreds of Polisario fighters were trained by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard before being deployed to Syria to support Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
