City Takes Bold Step to End Parking Chaos

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the Casablanca City Council approved a new regulatory framework governing the use of public space for car and motorcycle guarding, marking a major shift in how this often chaotic sector is managed.
The newly adopted document establishes strict criteria for obtaining a license, including residency within the relevant district, proof of social vulnerability, and unemployment certificates. Priority will be given to vulnerable groups such as widows, sole providers, and people with disabilities who are able to perform the job.
The reform aims to restore order to the city’s streets and end the informal and often abusive practices by unlicensed parking attendants that have long frustrated drivers.
