The Rabat Administrative Court has upheld a ruling ordering the Casablanca City Council to pay approximately 50,000 dirhams in compensation following a stray dog attack on a woman in the Lissasfa area in August 2023.

The victim was on her way to work when she was unexpectedly attacked by a group of aggressive stray dogs, resulting in an ankle injury and ongoing psychological trauma.

She filed a lawsuit against the city council, the regional governorate, and the local development company « Casablanca Environment », blaming them for failing to address the stray dog issue.

The council argued the dogs were owned by private individuals, but the court dismissed that claim and affirmed the council’s responsibility for public safety within its jurisdiction.
