Classical music lovers in Marrakesh, Rabat, Casablanca, and Tangier are set to enjoy a series of high-end concerts between May 14 and 17, organized by the French Institute of Morocco, in celebration of the masterpieces of the renowned Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
For the first time in Morocco, this musical tour will feature a collaboration between the Moroccan Chamber Choir, led by conductor Amine Hadaf, and the renowned French baroque music ensemble Le Concert Spirituel, under the direction of world-renowned conductor Hervé Niquet.
Musicians will perform classical pieces by Mozart and Haydn, using historical instruments from the baroque era during four scheduled concerts at:
-
Church of Saints Martyrs in Marrakesh (May 14),
-
St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rabat (May 15),
-
Notre-Dame Church in Casablanca (May 16),
-
Our Lady of the Ascension Church in Tangier (May 17).
The French Institute stated that this tour, supported by BMCI Foundation, is not just an artistic event but also a cultural exchange between two ensembles united by a shared passion for music and authentic performance.
The collaboration aims to build artistic and cultural bridges across the Mediterranean, promoting dialogue, openness, and diversity through music, making this tour a unique musical and human experience.
The Moroccan Chamber Choir, founded in 2020, has quickly established itself on the national scene, notably performing at the opening of the Sacred Music Festival in 2022 under royal patronage.
As for Le Concert Spirituel, established in 1987, the ensemble is celebrated for reviving sacred French music and forgotten treasures from the European repertoire.
