Nass El Ghiwane and Gulf rhythms light up Tan-Tan Festival

On Thursday night, Bir Anzarane Square in Tan-Tan turned into a vibrant stage blending Moroccan artistic spirit and Gulf musical heritage, as part of the 18th Tan-Tan Festival, a cornerstone of cultural life in Morocco’s southern regions.
The event drew a massive audience, captivated by the performance of the iconic group Nass El Ghiwane, whose timeless songs ignited enthusiastic responses from all age groups, reviving the spirit of classic Moroccan music.
From the United Arab Emirates, singer Hamad Al Mansouri led a musical journey that enchanted the crowd, accompanied by his troupe performing traditional Gulf dances and melodies in perfect harmony.
Nass El Ghiwane expressed deep admiration for the Hassani culture, acknowledging it as an inspiration behind several of their works, and highlighting the importance of reconnecting with southern Moroccan audiences through such cultural exchanges.
Held under the High Royal Patronage, the festival continues until May 18, under the theme: “Tan-Tan Festival, a Living Witness to the Globality of Nomadic Culture.” The UAE, acting as the official partner for the eighth consecutive year, symbolizes the strong cultural ties between the two nations.
This edition features a rich program including major concerts, tbourida (equestrian shows), camel milking competitions, and intellectual panels discussing investment and women’s creativity in Hassani culture, further establishing Tan-Tan as a hub of intangible Moroccan heritage.
