The Moroccan Prison Observatory, in partnership with Lawyers Without Borders, will hold an interactive workshop on Law 22.43 on alternative sentencing on Saturday, May 25, 2025, starting at 10 a.m., at Ibis Hotel Agdal in Rabat.
The event will bring together representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Public Prosecution Office, the General Delegation for Prison Administration, along with legal experts, human rights organizations, civil society actors, justice professionals, academics, and media outlets.
This workshop aims to foster dialogue on how to implement the new law effectively, define the civil society’s role in supporting the reform, and produce practical recommendations to ease its application.
Law 22.43 is seen as a landmark reform in Morocco’s criminal justice system, aiming to balance punishment with rehabilitation and support the social reintegration of offenders.
