In a major security operation, the judicial police of Casablanca, in close coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), succeeded in thwarting a large-scale attempt to traffic psychotropic pills, seizing 104,000 Rivotril tablets and 3,790 Ecstasy pills intended for national distribution.
According to a statement by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the Thursday operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals suspected of being part of a criminal network involved in the possession and distribution of illegal drugs and psychotropic substances.
Initial investigations revealed that police first arrested a suspect on Wednesday while in possession of 9,000 Rivotril pills, leading to the subsequent arrest of three more individuals linked to the same illegal activity.
Search operations led to the full seizure of the record-breaking shipment of pills, which were meant for widespread distribution across the country.
All four suspects have been placed in custody pending a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, aiming to identify other accomplices and uncover possible connections to additional drug trafficking networks.
This operation is part of ongoing national efforts to combat the illegal drug trade and protect public health and safety.
