Dar Bouazza Fights Back: Authorities Crack Down on Illegal “Yellow Vests”

On Tuesday morning, authorities in Dar Bouazza, a suburb of Casablanca, launched a sweeping campaign against illegal street guards known as « yellow vests, » following a decision by the provincial governor of Nouaceur to cancel a controversial street-renting deal.
This action comes after widespread public outcry and online complaints about unauthorized individuals demanding parking fees on public roads. The decision reinstates free parking, and law enforcement has been mobilized to clear the streets.
Residents welcomed the move, calling for similar operations nationwide and for an official legal framework to regulate parking guards and protect drivers from daily harassment and extortion.
