On the evening of Thursday and morning of Friday, May 30, 2025, Moroccan authorities conducted strict field operations in several regions to prevent illegal sheep sales, in line with royal directives suspending Eid al-Adha sacrifices this year. The decision aims to protect the national livestock heavily impacted by recurrent drought.

In Casablanca, a clandestine garage in Derb Ghallef used for illegal sheep sales was raided. Authorities seized dozens of sheep, and a report was filed against the owner, with legal procedures initiated.

Officials affirmed that such operations will continue with zero tolerance for violations, stressing the importance of collective responsibility to protect animal resources under current climate pressures.
