His Majesty King Mohammed VI sent a message to the participants of the 2025 edition of the « Ibrahim Governance Weekend », which opened on Sunday in Marrakech. In this message, read by his advisor Mr. André Azoulay, the King emphasized the need for Africa to adopt a new development model based on self-reliance and innovative financing mechanisms.

The Monarch outlined four key pillars for inclusive and sustainable development in Africa:

  1. Rethinking development financing,

  2. Creating a favorable institutional and economic climate,

  3. Boosting intra-African trade,

  4. Fully leveraging the continent’s natural resources.

King Mohammed VI stressed that Africa must move away from overdependence on external aid and embrace locally driven solutions. He also called for financing African development to become a top priority on the global agenda, particularly ahead of the upcoming international conference in Seville later this month.

Morocco, the King noted, has developed effective financial tools such as the Mohammed VI Investment Fund and Casablanca Finance City, which support entrepreneurship and economic growth across the continent.

The message concluded with a reaffirmation of Morocco’s firm commitment to a strong, sovereign, and united Africa built on solidarity, strategic partnerships, and shared prosperity.
