On Monday, the Peruvian Congress expressed its full support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces, commending the autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom in 2007 as a serious and internationally lawful solution.

In a motion approved by a majority of lawmakers, the Congress urged Peru’s executive branch to adopt a clear stance in favor of Morocco’s territorial integrity, emphasizing the longstanding diplomatic ties between the two countries since 1964, built on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared values.

The motion also warned of the Polisario Front’s connections with terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, its involvement in human and arms trafficking, and the exploitation of minors in the Tindouf camps. It called on international organizations to conduct thorough investigations and enforce necessary sanctions.

The document reaffirmed Peru’s commitment to human rights and counter-terrorism, stressing the importance of strengthening partnerships with countries that share these values—chief among them, the Kingdom of Morocco.
