The Israeli army announced on Saturday a targeted military operation that killed a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard official, identified as the main coordinator between Tehran and Hamas.

The overnight strike took place in the Qom region south of Tehran, killing Saeed Izadi, commander of the “Palestine Brigade” within the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, according to an Israeli military statement.

The statement added that the operation followed a “long and complex intelligence effort,” targeting an apartment used as a hideout, without further details on the execution.

This strike comes amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, linked to the ongoing war between Israel and Palestinian factions in Gaza, which Israel accuses Iran of supporting militarily and logistically.

No official Iranian response has been issued yet.
