In a major diplomatic shift, former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a full ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, following an Iranian missile strike on the Al Udeid base in Qatar.

Trump stated that the ceasefire will go into effect within six hours, initially lasting 12 hours, after which the war will be considered officially over.

He congratulated both nations for having “the courage, endurance, and intelligence” to end a conflict that “could have lasted for years and destroyed the entire Middle East.”

According to Reuters, the deal was brokered with significant mediation from Qatar. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman held direct talks with Tehran and confirmed Israel’s acceptance of the ceasefire proposal.

The agreement comes on the 11th day of intense military exchanges, raising fears of a broader regional war.

While welcomed globally, analysts warn this might just be a temporary truce, rather than a long-term peace framework.
