Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch arrived this Sunday in Seville to represent His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, organized by the United Nations from June 30 to July 3, 2025.

He attended the state dinner hosted by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia alongside world leaders.

The Moroccan delegation includes Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah, UN Ambassador Omar Hilale, and Ambassador to Spain Karima Benyaich.

The event gathers around 70 heads of state and over 4000 participants from civil society, financial institutions, and private sector entities.

According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the goal is to address a $4 trillion annual financing gap faced by developing countries — up $1.5 trillion from a decade ago.

This summit is also a key opportunity to reform the outdated international financial system and boost efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The draft final declaration, titled the “Seville Commitment,” calls for better representation of the Global South, tripling development banks’ lending capacity, and increased international cooperation to combat tax evasion.
