A pivotal technical report ordered by the Casablanca Court of Appeal has confirmed the structural safety of the historic Floréal building, located next to the U.S. Embassy. This comes after years of legal dispute between residents and the building’s owner.

The owner had requested a full evacuation, citing structural risks, but residents resisted, arguing the building was safe. After multiple hearings, a tripartite panel of certified civil engineering experts was appointed to assess the building.

The report concluded: “There are no indications of instability. No critical cracks or deformations were found. The concrete structure is solid and stable.”

The experts stressed that ongoing repairs fall under standard preventive maintenance, and do not require evacuating residents from their apartments.

The Administrative Court of Appeal in Rabat has meanwhile revealed critical information about the property’s legal status, potentially impacting future legal proceedings.
