Cervantes Institute Casablanca Launches New Cultural Era with Major Restoration Project

On Friday, July 4, 2025, the Cervantes Institute in Casablanca will mark a historic moment by laying the symbolic foundation stone for the restoration of its new headquarters, located at 31 Rue d’Algérie. This iconic building is set to be transformed into a flagship center for Spanish language and culture in Morocco.
The event will bring together prominent figures from both Morocco and Spain, including Luis García Montero, General Director of Cervantes Institutes worldwide, Casablanca Mayor Nabila Rmili, Regional Governor Mohamed Mhidia, Regional Council President Abdellatif Maâzouz, and Spanish Ambassador Enrique Ojeda.
The architectural vision will be presented by Jesús Olárizu (Spain) and Omar Alaoui (Morocco), alongside local director Cristina Conde de Beroldingen. The project seeks not only to restore the building’s historic features but to reimagine it as a dynamic space for intercultural exchange, language education, and artistic creation.
Cervantes Casablanca will thus strengthen its role as a key player in fostering cultural dialogue between Spain and Morocco — reinforcing linguistic ties and shared heritage in a vibrant, inclusive setting.
