The Regional Committee for Women Victims of Violence under the Rabat Court of Appeal held a forum on Friday to discuss the growing threat of digital violence, particularly in connection with unethical uses of artificial intelligence.

Presided over by the Public Prosecutor, the meeting gathered officials from relevant ministries, law enforcement, the Royal Gendarmerie, and civil society associations.

Lamiae Bensalama, head of the committee, presented an overview of emerging forms of online violence targeting women and vulnerable groups, including harassment, identity theft, deepfakes, hacking, and cyber blackmail.

She warned that the unethical use of AI is fueling a new wave of abuse, with serious psychological consequences for victims, especially women.

Participants called for updated legal frameworks and protective mechanisms to address the evolving nature of digital threats.
