Trump Slaps New Tariffs on Algeria, Iraq, Libya, and Three Other Countries

In a continued push for trade protectionism, U.S. President Donald Trump has imposed new tariffs on six countries, including three Arab nations, starting August 1st.
The 30% tariff will apply to Algeria, Iraq, and Libya, while Brunei, Moldova, and the Philippines will face a 25% tariff.
This move is part of Trump’s strategy to reduce the U.S. trade deficit and boost local manufacturing.
Previously, Trump had already imposed 25% tariffs on Tunisia, citing similar economic motives.
Meanwhile, the European Union stated that it might reach a preliminary trade agreement with the U.S. in the coming days.
Trump has also hinted at more tariff notifications targeting unnamed countries.
