Neglect of Sidi Moumen? Mayor Nabila Rmili Faces Criticism Over Lack of Development Projects

Residents of Sidi Moumen, one of Casablanca’s largest and most underserved districts, are expressing growing frustration over what they describe as blatant neglect by Mayor Nabila Rmili and the municipal council.

Despite repeated promises of urban rehabilitation and infrastructure improvement, the district continues to suffer from crumbling roads, lack of cultural and youth facilities, and poor access to basic services — fueling a sense of abandonment among locals.

Sources from the area criticize the current council for « lacking a concrete development vision, » accusing it of relying on « PR campaigns without real impact on daily life. »

Calls are mounting for a serious public dialogue on the city’s development priorities and for integrating Sidi Moumen into a broader urban renewal plan that reflects its demographic and social significance.
