The Casablanca-Settat region has been rocked by leaked inspection reports from the Regional Audit Court revealing serious irregularities in the management of « fuel vouchers. » Elected officials and administrators are implicated in illegal distribution of fuel to close associates outside formal administrative procedures.

According to informed sources, audits also uncovered significant violations in oil and spare parts procurement contracts within some elected councils, with a glaring lack of transparency and justification for expenditures.

Reports highlighted large sums allocated for fuel without corresponding field activities to justify such spending, especially in territorial communities on the outskirts, despite a limited number of vehicles registered in communal parks.

This raises serious questions about control and accountability mechanisms and the commitment of local officials to good governance, amid growing calls for prudent public fund management.
