Casablanca Council Members Seek Clarification on “Weld Mina” and Sâsfa Market Projects

Several members of the Casablanca municipal council have sent an official letter to the council’s president, requesting clarification on the legal and administrative status of the rehabilitation agreement for the Saada Market, known as “Weld Mina,” and the municipal market of Sâsfa. This follows unofficial reports suggesting the cancellation or suspension of this agreement.
The signatory members expressed concern over these “worrying” rumors, emphasizing that the agreement is part of the city’s market rehabilitation programs aimed at organizing the commercial sector, improving working conditions for professionals and traders, and supporting local development with social and economic benefits.
The councilors highlighted that postponing or canceling these projects would place them in a difficult position before residents and traders who have been waiting for years for the projects to commence, stressing that these markets are vital arteries for commercial life in several neighborhoods.
