Lower House Speaker Holds Talks with Italian Parliament Delegation

Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami, met on Monday in Rabat with a delegation from both chambers of the Italian Parliament, including members of the Italian parliamentary intergroup “Support for the Autonomy Initiative in the Sahara,” currently on a working visit to the Kingdom until October 28.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Kingdom’s ambassador to Rome Youssef Bella, the two sides discussed bilateral parliamentary ties, which have been bolstered over the past decade through cooperation and exchange programs, a stronger role of friendship and coordination groups, and bilateral and multilateral parliamentary communication, according to a press release from the House of Representatives.
It was also an opportunity to present the Italian delegation with the Kingdom’s strategic projects, the process of institutional and democratic building and the ongoing development in the Southern provinces, as well as the Royal initiatives in favor of the African continent, which turned Morocco into a model on several levels and a regional and international reference in terms of security, stability and peaceful conflict resolution, respect for the territorial integrity of States and non-interference in their internal affairs, in accordance with the clearsighted Vision and High Guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the same source adds.
After learning about the latest developments in the issue of Morocco’s territorial integrity and the growing support for the national cause, the Italian parliamentary delegation expressed admiration for the progress achieved in the Southern provinces of the Kingdom, reiterating its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the autonomy initiative.
Members of the Italian delegation also stressed that Morocco and Italy are well united through historical, cultural and economic ties, noting that Morocco represents a democratic model and an essential partner in the region for Italy, the press release mentioned.
The itinerary for the visit by the Italian parliamentary delegation, which includes members of both the majority and the opposition, features meetings and field visits to inquire about the major projects undertaken by the Kingdom, particularly in the Southern provinces, under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
