The opening of the exhibition « Arte dal Vulcano » took place on Monday evening at the Palace of Italian Institutions in Tangier, as part of the celebrations marking the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of the Italian city of Naples.

Held under the aegis of the National Committee Neapolis 2500, the event is organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Embassy of Italy in Morocco, and the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat.

Inaugurated by Italy’s Ambassador to Morocco, Pasquale Salzano, the exhibition showcases a selection of works by contemporary Neapolitan and Campanian artists from the collections of the Madre Museum and the Novecento Museum of Naples.

The opening ceremony featured a musical program dedicated to Neapolitan song, performed by singer Emilia Zamuner accompanied by guitarist Alessandro Morlando, in collaboration with the Italian National Music Committee and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

Speaking on the occasion, Salzano highlighted the symbolic significance of this exhibition, which sheds light on the vitality of the Neapolitan artistic scene while celebrating a millenary heritage.

He also emphasized that presenting this exhibition in Tangier forms part of the bicentenary of diplomatic relations between Italy and Morocco, underscoring a cultural dialogue rooted in shared history and the Mediterranean.

This maritime space, he recalled, represents a natural link between peoples and connects, in a unique way, the two cities of Naples and Tangier.

For her part, Angela Tecce, President of the « Donnaregina » Foundation for Contemporary Arts – Madre Museum, noted that all participating artists originate from Naples and belong to different generations, from renowned masters to emerging creators.

In this regard, she highlighted the historical and cultural ties between Naples and Tangier, stressing that art plays a key role in fostering closeness and exchange.

Meanwhile, Carmela Callea, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat, underlined that the exhibition illustrates the ongoing evolution of Italian art, which continues to engage with its tradition while opening up to new forms of expression. She added that the event offers a moment for reflection on Campanian and Neapolitan creativity, driven by a dynamic capable of transcending borders.
