Recent reports from the English press have shed light on the reasons behind Manchester United’s delay in finalizing the transfer of Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat, who returned to Fiorentina after his loan ended.

It appears that the « Red Devils » are still prioritizing Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), for this summer transfer window. Manchester United plans to resume negotiations with PSG, hoping to secure a reduction in the financial demands of the Parisian club.

Negotiations over Manuel Ugarte are currently at a standstill, with PSG demanding 60 million euros for the Uruguayan player. Faced with this impasse, Manchester United is exploring other midfield options as the transfer window nears its end, leaving the English club with two weeks to decide. The club might persist in its attempt to acquire Ugarte or turn to other options. A final offer to PSG is not ruled out.

The main obstacle to this transaction remains Manchester United’s budgetary constraints. Transfer expert, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, emphasizes that the club is determined to secure a midfielder, with Ugarte at the top of the list.

To finance this move, ManU might be forced to sell one of its current midfielders. If this strategy fails, the « Red Devils » could redirect their efforts towards Sofyan Amrabat or Sander Berge, two serious alternatives.

For his part, Sofyan Amrabat, despite the lack of concrete moves from Manchester United to purchase his contract from Fiorentina or extend his loan, remains keen on continuing his adventure at Old Trafford.

Amrabat ended the previous season on a high note, shining during the FA Cup final victory against Manchester City (2-1), which, in the eyes of supporters, should be enough to guarantee him a place in the team.

However, Manchester United has yet to activate the purchase option included in his loan contract, preferring to negotiate a lower price than the initially agreed 25 million euros.

Reports from England indicate that the club is not rushing to resolve Amrabat’s situation, leaving the Moroccan as a backup option if other deals fall through.

This uncertainty, although it may weigh on Amrabat’s morale and test his patience, has not diminished his desire to remain at Manchester United. The Moroccan midfielder still aspires to play at Old Trafford next season.

Amrabat is waiting for a sign from the club while continuing his training to maintain his fitness after his return to Italy.

Although back at Fiorentina, he is still officially listed among Manchester United’s midfielders on the club’s website, alongside newcomers like Lenny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee. In contrast, Raphaël Varane, who transferred to Como in Italy, has been removed from this list. Some see this as a positive sign for Amrabat, suggesting that the door is not yet closed for a return to Manchester.

The same reports confirm that Amrabat is open to returning to the « Red Devils, » highlighting that this deal could materialize even at the last minute of the transfer window, as was the case with his loan last summer.
