Inauguration of Chad’s General Consulate in Dakhla: A Milestone in Morocco-Chad Relations

The inauguration of the new General Consulate headquarters and the installation of the new Consul General were marked by a ceremony presided over by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Chadians Abroad, and International Cooperation, Government Spokesperson, Abderaman Koulamallah, alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

This event symbolizes the implementation of the decision made by the Republic of Chad, officially communicated to Moroccan authorities on September 7, 2022, to open a General Consulate in Dakhla, in the Moroccan Sahara.

During the ceremony, both ministers emphasized that this opening reflects the strong and historical ties between Morocco and Chad, marked by fraternity and solidarity, in line with the directives of King Mohammed VI and President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.

This initiative is part of the official visit to Morocco by Minister of State Abderaman Koulamallah. With this new opening, the total number of consulates in the Southern Provinces now stands at 29, including 17 in Dakhla.
