Major powers like the U.S., Spain, and France increasingly support Morocco’s autonomy plan, leaving the Polisario marginalized. According to ISS, Morocco successfully keeps the issue within the United Nations, despite Algeria and South Africa’s influence within the African Union. The UN stresses the urgent need for negotiations to resolve this long-standing conflict.
