The regional judicial police department in Rabat has launched a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor on Thursday, August 29, to determine the criminal acts attributed to three individuals, including two government officials, suspected of involvement in the forgery of residence certificates used for vehicle registration applications.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), Rabat’s judicial police, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested the three suspects on Thursday afternoon near a vehicle registration center. They were caught in possession of residence certificates in the names of others, nine vehicle registration cards, eight receipts for vehicle registration applications, as well as sums of money in national currency.
The statement indicates that the ongoing investigation focuses on verifying the extent of the suspects’ involvement in the forgery of residence certificates in exchange for money, to be used by individuals seeking to register their vehicles at registration centers in Rabat.
It was also noted that the three suspects have been placed in custody pending further judicial investigation as ordered by the competent public prosecutor.
