Zinedine Zidane has ruled out the possibility of succeeding Erik Ten Hag as Manchester United’s manager, stating that his English skills would not be adequate to perform the job effectively.

The former French international enjoyed enormous success during his two stints as Real Madrid’s head coach, a club he played for between 2001 and 2006. Zidane led Los Blancos to 11 trophies over a span of four and a half years, including three consecutive Champions League titles and two La Liga championships.

While Ten Hag recently renewed his contract with Manchester United, Zidane will not be the one to replace him should the Dutchman leave. In an interview with L’Équipe, Zidane was asked about his chances of managing at Old Trafford, to which he responded with near certainty.

« Would I want to go to Manchester United? I understand English, but I don’t speak it fluently. I know some managers take jobs without knowing the language, but I work differently. There are many elements needed to win, and I know what I need to succeed, » Zidane admitted. His message could not be clearer.
